Recently, I ventured into the world of blog readers. Blog readers allow users to collect blogs using a single website. This is convenient bcause blog users no longer have to spend extended time moving from site to site to read the blogs they love. The following is my experience with blog readers.
All of the blog reader sites in all the world…
I enjoyed using Bloglovin’.com. I found that many of the blog
reader sites offer similar settings and features, but I preferred Bloglovin’.com
for its simple interface and easy to use settings. It also offered variety of topics and recommendations. I will say that Feedly.com provided a cleaner
overall look, but it was perhaps to plain for me taste. In addition to
Bloglovin’.com’s clean look, I found it
easier to find blogs and navigate. Many of the blogs that I originally
subscribe to were quite difficult to find using Feedly.com and the other sites.
Diggreader.com also had some great benefits when it came to customization of
feeds. While each blog reader had its
benefits and drawbacks, most likely, I will continue to subscribe to
Bloglovin’.
Below are some awesome blogs/tumblr posts.
Librarian by day
This blog provides a well-rounded list of issues facing
librarians. However, the best aspect of the blog is the information provided on
technology and digital literacy. The
blog is well organized and provides interesting graphics.
Hack Library School
This blog posts on issues that working librarians deal with
- challenges of the job, education of librarians, and personal stories from
other students/librarians. This blog is appealing because it tackles the main
issues in library science, but also provides genuine insight into the actual
roles as responsibilities of working lib-sci students and librarians.
Hi Miss Julie!
This blog addresses topics that deal with developing,
running, and maintaining a library for younger children. Advice for librarians
ranges from funny observations to valuable information about applying for jobs.
The author of the blog writes from genuine experience, which makes this blog
memorable.
Book Euphoria
The best thing about this tumbler user is that posts include
quotes of popular books. These thought provoking quotes intrigue readers and
would work at almost any level. This motivates me to attempt to create a
similar project at my school library.
The Centered School Library
This blog focuses on the more practical side of librarianship.
For example, it focuses on ideas for library organization, book fairs, and
events. It has quite a few ideas on how
to use free materials (or inexpensive materials) to update and arrange the
library workstations.
